You know what you want to say before the conversation. Then someone questions you, sounds disappointed, or seems more certain, and you start explaining yourself instead.
This does not happen everywhere. At work, you might make difficult decisions every day. With a parent or partner, even a simple preference becomes hard to express. Or you feel comfortable with people you know, but hesitate when you need to introduce yourself, discuss your fees, or ask for an opportunity.
You want to trust your judgment when it matters, without spending the rest of the day questioning how you came across.
The situations that bring you here might include:
The cost reaches beyond the conversation. A decision stays unfinished, an opportunity passes, or you take on something you already knew you did not want.
You might value yourself and still struggle to speak up in a particular situation. Or a small mistake might quickly become a judgment about who you are. If that second pattern is closer to what you recognize, hypnotherapy for low self-esteem looks at how you value and treat yourself.
That difference matters in our work. Are you uncertain about your ability to handle this particular conversation? Are you afraid of the other person's reaction? Or does disagreement leave you feeling that you matter less?
Sometimes you know which one it is. Sometimes you only know that you walked into the conversation clear and came out doubting yourself.
We start with your experience rather than assuming that every difficulty with confidence has the same explanation.
I ask you to bring a recent example: what you wanted to say or do, what happened as you approached it, and where you began to doubt yourself.
Through conversation and hypnotherapy, we explore the feelings and expectations connected to that moment. You might notice that being questioned feels like being wrong, or that asking for something brings an immediate expectation of rejection. Those are possibilities to examine together, not conclusions I make about you in advance.
The work stays connected to what you want to do differently. Understanding why a conversation is difficult matters, but so does what happens the next time you need to have it.
Your aim might be to state your fee without immediately offering a discount, hold a boundary without a lengthy defense, or make a decision without asking several people to approve it.
Confidence also leaves room for correction. You can hear another person's view, recognize a mistake, or change your mind without treating that as evidence that you cannot trust yourself.
We look at what actually changes when those moments come around again. What became easier to say? Where did you still hold back? Your account of what happens between appointments helps guide the work. The pace and extent of change differ from person to person.
Tell me where you feel sure of yourself and where that certainty becomes harder to keep. You do not need to know why the difference exists before we speak. We can start with what you notice, what you want to do differently, and whether this work fits.
Sessions are available in person in Cornelius and online. For an overview of how the work is arranged, see Ways to Work.
